Comments: Air Force Father stationed at Berlin Brigade. He was a photographer so has plenty of pictures/slides of our time there. I went to T.A.R. from 2nd through 4th grades. We lived in off-post housing in the Sundgauer housing area. Looking at the maps it appears all of those former housing units are still there and the area hasn't changed much. Living off-post was more difficult in those days because the local Germans did not appreciate our presence which made us brats very close and protective of each other. We all played together on the playground, sandlot baseball, sang songs on the school bus. We took the West Loop military bus by ourselves to the Army Barracks where we took swimming lessons, payed 25 or 50 cents for the Saturday matinee at the Outpost theater while our parents shopped at the PX. Traveled by overnight train with the AYA track team to compete in Verdun. Stayed with a wonderful local host family which was scary with one other boy which was scary given our experience with the local German people in our neighborhood. But they treated us like kings and fed us equally well. Interesting how despite your age certain experiences are forever ingrained in HD quality. It\'s great to share with you all. Comments: My memories of Berlin are wonderful and are carried in my heart. All the experiences and travel were amazing! So many good friends and I've been blessed to have kept in contact with so many. This latest reunion actually being in Berlin brought back so much. Seeing all the pictures and video's being posted made me laugh, smile, and even brought some tears. We've lost some Brats way too soon, but I think about them everyday. I'm extremely proud to be called a BRAT and our family is amazing. Love to all!!!

Comments: I have been on the site many times, but never signed. It is amazing how our time in Berlin impacted us even all these years later. Two of my favorite teachers were Ms. Barlow and Mr. Pinschmidt and I can still remember many things about them all these years later. Time flies! I have been in law enforcement since 1991 and have been married 26 years to my incredible wife; have 3 children and 5 Grandchildren. We are getting old! Oh well, we still have memories of the great times we had. I visited Tim and Jennifer Shaw a few years ago in Florida and had a great visit. Hope this finds you guys well! Would like to hear from the "old" friends! Go Bears!

I wish I could be there but owning my own business makes traveling very difficult. I haven\'t had a vacation in 5 years. Planning on one in 2015....God willing. Even though it was scary at times, we were all so close. I loved living in Berlin and long to go back now that the wall is down. Comments: A regular checkup with bloodwork, the first I had had in several years, showed that I am diabetic, diabetes type 2. This came as a surprise and a bit of a shock to us as noone in my immediate family is or was diabetic. I am back from the hospital now and have my sugar under pretty good control with the oral medication I have been given, a classic diabetes pill called "Medformin". I am quite thankful the medication works for me as I have multiple medication allergies and it is not a given at all that I can tolerate medicine I am prescribed. I am really thankful that this works for me.

Comments: Where do I even start? I stood on top of the wall in front of Brandenburg Gate with the principle's son Kevin Steinman the day they announced the opening of the checkpoints. It was the day after we had a dance at the school and I spent the night at his house only to be told the wall is coming down and we were going to check it out. The things I saw that day changed my life. I sang in the church choir, and was in Club Beyond and went in their Italy trip as well as the ski trip to the Matterhorn. I was in band and choir under the furled brow of Mr. Kelb and was manager if the Cross Country team. I attended JFK Schule for a little bit, but it wasn't for me. Mark Fowler tried to beat me up at an U-Bahn stop, I attempted skateboarding with Ruben Solis and Chris Rafferty but never got good at it and have always wondered what ever happened to Steve Jones. I always wish I would have graduated there for the last class in 94 and would do anything to go back and see it all again. Also I would like a time machine to go back and take DJ classes from Van Tell at the Youth Center. I am on Facebook as Mattx Buddy. Stop by and say hi.

Had two older brothers, John (76) and Tim (72). Tim played in local band Pacific Stone for BAHS and AYA dances. I miss Berlin and remember those days as though they were yesterday.
